The choir was formed in 1904 by Mr Ted Harris and consisted of seventeen singers with a banjo as accompaniment.
The real foundation was laid by Mr John Henry Trudgeon who was musical director for forty years.
During this period the choir enjoyed many successes, winning its first County competition as early as 1910 and winning at many County Festivals after that.
